  NOTES: I have concerns about the census returns after 1870/1900 as any resemblence to his early census age is purely coincidental. His headstone also shows born 1855, but then thats often just somebodys best guess xxxxxxxxxxxxxx years later after he was born. I would have thought that a father/mother gets their ages just about right on the 1st census return when its all still fairly fresh in their memories. My colleague Sharon Bird however thinks these are the correct census entries for Adelbert, so I have added them all here and you can judge for yourself.
