  In 1901, after the cemetery has been closed for more than 12 years, the NSW Government invited the descendants and relatives of those interred atSandhills Cemetery to relocate their monuments and remains allowing for the resumption of the cemetery to make way for the building of Sydney's Central Railways Station.
